It’s difficult to make comparisons between the cost of heating with different fuels, but generally speaking, wood pellets (a bio-fuel suitable for stoves) and logs are cheaper than electricity and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).

It might be that you live in an area where you can’t burn fuels such as coal, so you’d have to use a smokeless fuel. Not only better for the planet, smokeless fuels are also less likely to cause chimney fires.
