Electricity companies are now obliged to get at least some of their power from renewable sources. However, it’s a minefield understanding the range of tariffs on offer, so you can only do your best. Research thoroughly and check out a number of suppliers before making your final green choice.
In theory, you are encouraging investment into renewable energy by paying the ‘green tariff’.
Some suppliers go much further than others, providing greater percentages of their total power from renewables.
